260 Devotional, Feb. 21 Matthew Ch. 20

Before you begin, take a few moments to find and create for yourself a quiet space. You can turn off your phone and close any chat or other things that might interrupt your time. Give your time and attention wholly to God for the next while.

You might say a prayer, inviting God to speak to you, to reveal Himself to you and to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of who He is and who He calls you to be.

 

1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with the laborers for a denariusa day, he sent them into his vineyard. And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’13 But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. 15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’ 16 So the last will be first, and the first last.”

 

Meditation:

  • This story troubles many.  It seems obvious that the owner of the vineyard wasn’t being fair.  Jesus is saying that some people want to put relationship with God on an equal-work-equal-pay basis.  And these folks often assume they’ll be rewarded for being so busy.
  • Relationship with God, in fact, is based on His generosity (v15), His grace, not our works.  We don’t advance spiritually by being busy.
  • Are you becoming so caught up in doing things for God that you forget to simply love Him?  Do you forget to stop, listen to people, and try to respond to their needs?  Are you actually drying up spiritually but still spending your energies in an unproductive way?  What is God telling you?

1“天國好像一個家主,清早出去雇請工人到他的葡萄園工作。他和工人講定了一天的工錢是一個銀幣,然後派他們到葡萄園去。大約九點鐘,他又出去,看見還有人閒站在街市上, 就對他們說:‘你們也到葡萄園來吧,我會給你們合理的工錢。’ 他們就去了。約在正午和下午三點鐘,他又出去,也是這樣作。 下午五點鐘左右,他再出去,看見還有人站著,就問他們:‘你們為甚麼整天站在這裡不去作工?’ 他們回答:‘沒有人用我們。’他說:‘你們也到葡萄園來吧。’ 到了黃昏,園主對管工說:‘把工人叫來,給他們工錢,從最後的開始,到最先來的。’ 那些下午五點鐘才開始作工的人來了,每個人都領到一個銀幣。 10 最先作工的人也來了,以為會多得一點,但每個人也是領到一個銀幣。 11 他們領到之後,就埋怨家主,說: 12 ‘我們整天在烈日之下勞苦,這些後來的人只工作了一個小時,你卻給他們跟我們一樣的工錢。’ 13 家主回答他們當中的一個,說:‘朋友,我並沒有虧待你。你我不是講定了一個銀幣嗎?14 拿你的工錢走吧!我給那後來的和給你的一樣,是我的主意。15 難道我不可以照自己的主意用我的財物嗎?還是因為我仁慈你就嫉妒呢?’ 16 因此,在後的將要在前,在前的將要在後。”

 

默想:

  • 很多人對這個比喻感到很困惑,因為這個園主很明顯是不公平的。耶穌是要說明有些人將他們與神的關係看作「同工同酬」的關係,這些人認為神必會因他們的忙碌、勞苦、功績,而更多賞賜他們。
  • 但是與神的關係是單單基於神的恩典(仁慈)(15節),而非我們的努力;我們不會因忙碌而在屬靈上得成長。
  • 你是否太過忙於為神工作,而忘了單單地愛神?你是否忘了停頓下來,聆聽別人的心聲,回應他們的需要?你是否靈裡已經枯乾,但仍不停地花費精力,作沒有果效的事?神正在對你說些什麼?

16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”27 Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

 

Meditation:

  • When Jesus remarked that it is difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom, the disciples were shocked.  In general, people view the wealthy as blessed by God, for they had the opportunity to do good with their wealth and so gain merit with God.
  • Jesus had a different perspective.  The more we have, the more our possessions may possess us!  It is hard for a person with many resources tied up in this world to focus his or her attention on the next.
  • Thank God that He can do what we cannot.  We can be saved for eternity.  And we can be saved from slavery to our wealth so that we can instead become slaves of God.
  • Do you love God above all else?  Is there anything hindering you to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ? Ask God to give you strength to stand against the world and to make His values your values.

16 有一個人前來見耶穌,說:“老師,我要作甚麼善事,才可以得著永生?” 17 耶穌說:“為甚麼問我關於善的事呢?只有一位是善的。如果你想進入永生,就應當遵守誡命。” 18 他問:“甚麼誡命?”耶穌回答:“就是‘不可殺人,不可姦淫,不可偷盜,不可作假證供; 19 當孝敬父母,當愛人如己’。” 20 那青年對他說:“這一切我都遵守了,還缺少甚麼呢?” 21 耶穌對他說:“如果你想要完全,就去變賣你所有的,分給窮人,你就必定有財寶在天上,而且你要來跟從我。”22 那青年聽見這話,就憂憂愁愁地走了,原來他的財產很多。

23 耶穌對門徒說:“我實在告訴你們,有錢的人是很難進天國的。24 我又告訴你們,駱駝穿過針眼,比有錢的人進 神的國還容易呢!” 25 門徒聽見了,十分驚奇,就問他:“這樣,誰可以得救呢?”26 耶穌看著他們說:“在人這是不能的,在 神卻凡事都能。” 27 那時彼得對他說:“你看,我們已經捨棄一切跟從了你,我們會得到甚麼呢?” 28 耶穌對他們說:“我實在告訴你們,到了萬物更新,人子坐在他榮耀的寶座上的時候,你們這些跟從我的人,也會坐在十二個寶座上,審判以色列的十二個支派。 29 凡為我的名撇下房屋、兄弟、姊妹、父母、兒女或田地的,他必得著百倍,並且承受永生。 30 然而許多在前的將要在後,在後的將要在前。”

 

默想:

  • 當耶穌說道:「財主進天國是難的」,門徒們非常詫異。因為當時一般的看法,認為有錢人才是蒙神祝福的,他們能夠以財富行善來積德,因而更多得福。
  • 但是耶穌的看法完全不同,我們所擁有的越多,我們的產業就會越霸占我們。一個人在世上被許多財產綁住了,就很難定睛於永世。
  • 感謝神,因為:「在人這是不能的,在神卻凡事都能」。神拯救我們得到永生,神也拯救我們脫離財富的奴役,使我們成為神的奴僕,專心事奉祂。
  • 你愛主超過其他一切嗎?還有什麼你看為寶貴的事物,攔阻你成為主的真門徒?懇求神賜你力量來與世界抗衡,並將神的價值成為你的價值。

15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants.24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ 30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”

 

Meditation:

  • Jesus gave us a compelling reason to forgive one another by telling the story of a wicked servant (vv23-32).
  • This is a reminder for us when we harden our hearts toward a brother or sister after a few repeated hurts.  After all, God, the great King, has forgiven us an absolutely unpayable debt, our sins.
  • Who do you find it hard to forgive?  Think about the forgiveness you have received from the Lord.  Imagine yourself as the first servant.  Ask God for grace to forgive the other person.

15 “如果你的弟兄犯了罪(“犯了罪”有些抄本作“得罪你”),你趁著和他單獨在一起的時候,要去指出他的過失來。如果他肯聽,你就得著你的弟兄。 16 如果他不肯聽,就另外帶一兩個人同去,好使一切話,憑兩三個證人的口,可以確定。 17 如果他再不聽,就告訴教會;如果連教會他也不聽,就把他看作教外人和稅吏吧。

18 “我實在告訴你們,你們在地上捆綁的,在天上也被捆綁;你們在地上釋放的,在天上也被釋放。 19 我又告訴你們,你們當中若有兩個人,在地上同心為甚麼事祈求,我在天上的父必為他們成全。20 因為無論在哪裡,有兩三個人奉我的名聚會,我就在他們中間。”

默想:

  • 耶穌以一個比喻來回答彼得提出有關饒恕的問題,並為饒恕提出最強有力的動機。這對我們有很大的提醒,當弟兄姐妹重復多次傷害我們後,我們的心就變得僵硬;但神我們的主宰,卻早已饒恕了我們全然無法償還的罪債。
  • 有誰是你到現在仍然很不容易饒恕的人?思想你從神所得的饒恕,想像你是比喻中第一個欠了巨額的僕人,求神賜下饒恕別人的恩典給你,來徹底地饒恕此人。

1After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.  4Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”  5While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”  6When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” 8When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.  9As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”  10The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”  11Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. 12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” 13Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.

 

Meditation:

  • Peter, James and John witnessed a special event on the mountaintop.  They fell down before the transfigured Jesus and when they looked up “they saw no one except Jesus”.  In the brightness that blazed from Jesus, in the brilliant cloud that enveloped them, and in the voice announcing Jesus as God’s Son, they had a glimpse of Christ’s glory.  The disciples were deeply, completely, totally immersed in worship.
  • How did you ever come to realize that Jesus was the one above all others that you should listen to?  How has God said to you, “This is my child, whom I love, with whom I am well pleased”?  What was your response?

過了六天,耶穌帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰,領他們悄悄地上了高山。 耶穌在他們面前改變了形象,臉好像太陽一樣照耀,衣服潔白像光。 忽然,摩西和以利亞向他們顯現,跟耶穌談話。彼得對耶穌說:“主啊,我們在這裡真好。如果你願意,我就在這裡搭三個帳棚,一個為你,一個為摩西,一個為以利亞。” 彼得還說話的時候,有一朵明亮的雲彩籠罩他們,雲中有聲音說:“這是我的愛子,我所喜悅的,你們要聽他。” 門徒聽見了,就俯伏在地上,非常害怕。 耶穌前來,摸著他們說:“起來,不用怕。” 他們抬起頭來,看見只有耶穌自己,沒有別的人。

默想:

  • 彼得、雅各,和約翰三個人在高山上親眼目睹了一件非常特殊的事件,他們俯伏在變相的耶穌面前。當他們抬頭時,「看見只有耶穌自己,沒有別的人」。這是何等奇妙的山頂經驗!在耶穌耀眼的亮光中,在燦爛的雲彩遮蓋中,在宣佈耶穌是神的愛子的聲音中,他們窺見了耶穌的榮耀。因此他們就全然地、深層地沉浸在敬拜的當中。
  • 回想你信主的歷程中,你是在什麼情況下承認「耶穌是超越一切,我應當聽從祂」?神怎樣向你宣佈:「這是我的愛子,我所喜悅的」?你當時有怎樣的回應?

13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

 

Meditation:

  • Now that the disciples have been with Jesus for a while, he must prepare them for the true nature of his kingdom. They are shocked at the cost of His mission and His requirements for discipleship.
  • Peter had just been commended by Jesus (vv16-19), is now rebuked by Him. Peter didn’t like the idea of Christ facing death by crucifixion so he urged Jesus to avoid it!  Jesus angrily pushed him away for he lacked the perspective of God.
  • Every disciple must learn to look at his or her life from God’s perspective and “take up his cross and follow”.  Most of the time, our cross doesn’t represent suffering or death, but it represents the plan and purpose of God for each of us.  We need to find and do God’s will just like Jesus did.
  • We may think that if we do the will of God, we will “lose our life”.  However, the truth is that we will only “gain” our life and become what we most desire to be when we do the will of God each day.
  • From Jesus’ “gain and lose” teaching (vv25-26), what do you think of your current priorities?

 

Prayer & Journaling:

13 耶穌來到該撒利亞.腓立比的地區,就問自己的門徒:“人說人子是誰?” 14 他們回答:“有人說是施洗的約翰,有人說是以利亞,也有人說是耶利米,或是先知裡的一位。” 15 他問他們:“你們說我是誰?” 16 西門.彼得回答:“你是基督,是永生 神的兒子。” 17 耶穌對他說:“約拿的兒子西門,你是有福的,因為這不是人(“人”原文作“肉和血”)指示你的,而是我在天上的父啟示你的。 18 我告訴你,你是彼得,我要在這磐石上建立我的教會,死亡的權勢(“死亡的權勢”原文作“陰間的門”)不能勝過他。 19 我要把天國的鑰匙給你,你在地上捆綁的,在天上也被捆綁;你在地上釋放的,在天上也被釋放。” 20 於是耶穌吩咐門徒不可對人說他就是基督。

21 從那時起,耶穌開始向門徒指出,他必須往耶路撒冷去,受長老、祭司長和經學家許多的苦害,並且被殺,第三天復活。 22 彼得就把他拉到一邊,責怪他說:“主啊,千萬不可這樣,這事一定不會發生在你身上的。” 23 耶穌轉過來對彼得說:“撒但!退到我後面去!你是絆腳石,因為你不思念 神的事,只思念人的事。” 24 於是耶穌對門徒說:“如果有人願意跟從我,就當捨己,背起他的十字架來跟從我。25 凡是想救自己生命的,必喪掉生命;但為我犧牲生命的,必得著生命。 26 人若賺得全世界,卻賠上自己的生命,有甚麼好處呢?人還能用甚麼換回自己的生命呢? 27 人子要在父的榮耀裡和眾天使一同降臨,那時他要照各人的行為報應各人。 28 我實在告訴你們,站在這裡的,有人在沒有嘗過死味以前,必要看見人子帶著他的國降臨。”

 

默想:

  • 門徒與耶穌一起有一段時間,祂必須裝備門徒認識神的國度。門徒震驚於耶穌為要完成使命所需付上的代價,以及祂對門徒的要求。
  • 耶穌在16-19節稱讚彼得,但23節耶穌卻斥責他。彼得不欲耶穌死於十架,因此希望耶穌躲開。但耶穌嚴厲地斥責彼得,因他並非從神的角度來看這件事。
  • 我們身為主門徒的,都當學習以神的眼光來看自己的生命,並「背…十字架來跟從」。這並不是說,我們都要被釘十架;其實,大多時候,我們的十架並非代表受苦或死亡,乃是代表神對我們每個人的計劃與目的,我們需要學習耶穌一樣,發掘神的旨意,並將神的旨意實踐出來。
  • 我們可能以為遵行神的旨意,就會「喪掉生命」。其實,只有在每天生活中遵行神的旨意,我們才能「得到生命」,並且是更豐盛的生命。
  • 耶穌「得與失」的教導(25-26節),對你自己目前的生活優次,有什麼提醒?

有法利賽人和經學家從耶路撒冷前來,問耶穌: “你的門徒為甚麼違背古人的傳統,在飯前不洗手呢?” 耶穌回答:“你們又為甚麼因你們的傳統,違背 神的誡命呢?  神說:‘當孝敬父母’,又說:‘咒罵父母的必被處死’。 你們卻說:‘人若對父母說:“我應該給你們的,已經作了獻給 神的禮物”, 他就可以不孝敬父母了。’你們因為你們的傳統,就廢棄了 神的話。 偽君子啊,以賽亞指著你們說的預言說得好:

‘這人民用嘴唇尊敬我,心卻遠離我;

他們把人的規條當作道理去教導人,所以拜我也是徒然。’”

10 耶穌叫群眾前來,對他們說:“你們要聽,也要明白。 11 進到口裡的不能使人污穢,只有從口裡出來的,才能使人污穢。” 12 門徒前來告訴他:“法利賽人聽了這話很生氣,你知道嗎?” 13 耶穌說:“所有不是我天父栽種的植物,都要連根拔起來。 14 由得他們吧!他們是瞎眼的,卻作了嚮導;如果瞎子領瞎子,二人都會跌進坑裡。” 15 彼得說:“請你給我們解釋這個比喻吧。” 16 耶穌說:“你們還是不明白嗎? 17 難道不知道一切進到口裡的,是進到肚腹,然後排泄到外面(“外面”或譯:“廁所”)去嗎? 18 但從口裡出來的,是發自內心,才會使人污穢。 19 因為從心裡出來的,有惡念、兇殺、姦淫、淫亂、偷盜、假見證和毀謗。 20 這些才會使人污穢,不洗手吃飯卻不會這樣。”

 

默想:

  • 從耶路撒冷來的代表向耶穌挑戰,說耶穌沒有教導祂的門徒在吃飯前“洗手”。這個洗手不是為乾淨的緣故,而是為禮儀上的潔淨。他們根據舊約的條例,認為“潔淨”是一種禮儀上的純淨,使得一個人可以接近、敬拜神。法利賽人與律法師將這些規條制定成許多管理禮儀純淨的法規,並將這些法規視為與聖經有同等的重要性。
  • 耶穌直接的攻擊這整個潔淨的觀念,祂教導門徒說,“進到口裡的不能使人污穢”;真正使人不能前來敬拜神的,乃是那些“從口裡出來的,才能使人污穢”。
  • 你是否也像法利賽人,專注外表的裝扮,卻忽略內在的潔淨;嚴守律法——各項規定守則,卻不看重對主的忠心,以及對聖靈的敏銳感?

You might say a prayer, inviting God to speak to you, to reveal Himself to you and to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of who He is and who He calls you to be.

 

Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:

“‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

10 And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. 14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”15 But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.”16 And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? 18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

 

Meditation:

  • The delegation from Jerusalem challenged Christ with not teaching His disciples to “wash their hands” before they ate. This washing was not hygienic, but a matter of ritual “cleanness”. In Old Testament religion, to be “clean” meant to be in a state of ritual purity that permitted a person to approach and worship God. The Pharisees and teachers of the Law had multiplied the rules governing ritual purity, and treated them as though their rules had the force of Scripture.
  • Jesus directly attacked this whole way of thinking when He taught that “what goes into a man’s mouth” (external) cannot make him unclean. What really disqualifies a person for worship are those things which “come out of the heart”.
  • Are you like the Pharisees, caring much about how you look on the outside, but neglect the purity on the inside; focusing on legalism/following the rules instead of being faithful to God and sensitive to Hs Spirit?
  • Read through the sins listed in v19.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the filth and darkness there.  Ask God for forgiveness and cleansing of your heart.

默想:

  • 圍繞耶穌的事件快速的發生,施洗約翰被斬頭,耶穌行神蹟餵飽五千人,並在水面上行走。但是官方的敵意更加惡化。
  • 耶穌為什麼叫彼得(及我們)走到水面上?彼得在什麼時候開始下沉?為什麼是這個時候而不是一早就沉?
  • 你什麼時候最容易將眼目轉離主,而跌在懷疑低谷中?
  • 33節門徒都拜耶穌,並說,“你真是 神的兒子。”你留意看這件事情,或你自己的遭遇時,有什麼事情會引你向耶穌下拜?當你再次受試探懷疑神的時候,這些事情會怎樣幫助你持守對耶穌的信心?

28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

 

Meditation:

  • Events moved rapidly. John the Baptist was beheaded. Jesus miraculously fed 5,000 and walked on water. But official hostility grew.
  • Why do you think Jesus invited Peter (and us) to step out onto the water? When did Peter begin to sink? Why then and not earlier?
  • When are you most tempted to take your eyes off the Lord and to sink in doubt?
  • In verse 33 the disciples worship Jesus and declare, “Truly you are the Son of God.” What do you see in this incident that leads you to worship Jesus?
  • How can these things help you to trust Jesus the next time you are tempted to doubt?

默想:

  • 耶穌對困惑的群眾說了一系列的比喻,祂又對門徒說了另一系列,祂並解釋神國的道理。
  • 這段經文中的比喻清楚說明,人是否接受福音要視乎土壤的好壞,也就是領受者的心的情況。種子和撒種的都是一樣,但是土壤卻不同。許多人不接受耶穌的信息,但那少數接受的人,就結出豐碩的果子來。
  • 有什麼憂慮有可能妨礙你在基督裡的成長?你如何脫離這些“荊棘”?
  • 怎樣可以幫助信徒向下紮根,不致脫離信仰?你的根是怎樣建立起來的?
  • 耶穌期望信徒結出怎樣的“果實”?你怎樣可以增加自己的“生產力”?

1 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.”……

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

 

Meditation:

  • Jesus told a series of parables to puzzled crowds, and in another series, He told to His disciples. Jesus explained the unexpected aspects of His kingdom.
  • This parable makes clear that reception of the gospel depends on the soil, i.e. the condition of the recipient.  In this parable, the seed and the sower are the same in each case, but the soil varies.  There are many who do not respond favourably to Jesus’ message, but the few who did produced remarkable fruit.
  • What kinds of worries have potential to choke your growth in Christ? How can you free your life from these “thorns”?
  • What helps a believer have deep “roots” which prevent one from falling away? What gives you root?
  • What “crop” does Jesus want believers to yield? How would you increase your “crop productivity”?

耶穌離開那裡,來到他們的會堂。 10 會堂裡有一個人,他的一隻手枯乾了。有人問耶穌:“在安息日治病,可以嗎?”目的是要控告耶穌。 11 耶穌回答:“你們當中有哪一個,他僅有的一隻羊在安息日跌進坑裡,會不把羊抓住拉上來呢? 12 人比羊貴重得多了!所以,在安息日行善是可以的。” 13 於是對那人說:“伸出手來!”他把手一伸,就復原了,好像另一隻手一樣。 14 法利賽人出去,商議怎樣對付耶穌,好殺掉他。

15 耶穌知道了,就離開那裡。有很多人跟隨他,他醫好他們所有的病人, 16 又囑咐他們不可替他張揚。 17 這就應驗了以賽亞先知所說的:

18 “看哪!我所揀選的僕人,我所愛,心裡所喜悅的;

默想:

  • 耶穌所面對的反對力量越來越強硬,祂宣稱自己是安息日的主,並稱自己是以賽亞所預言的神僕;這些帶來耶穌與法利賽人直接的衝突。
  • 耶穌的傳道工作並非一帆風順,祂面對許多帶有敵意的人。耶穌應對的方式就是就離開那裡,並囑咐那些被醫好的人,不要喧嚷出去,為什麼?
  • 馬太引用以賽亞書「僕人之歌」其中的一部分(以賽亞書41:1-9),來解釋,說明主耶穌——世人的救贖主,祂「不爭競,不喧嚷」,祂是這麼溫和,連「壓傷的蘆葦,他不折斷;將殘的燈火,他不吹滅」。
  • 繼續專注你的彌賽亞/救主,重讀本段經文來思想祂的性情,更深地認識祂。讚美感謝神的謙卑與溫柔,並祂在你生命中所作的奇妙工作。

He went on from there and entered their synagogue.10 And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—so that they might accuse him. 11 He said to them, “Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” 13 Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him.

15 Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all 16 and ordered them not to make him known. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

18 “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen,
my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased.
I will put my Spirit upon him,
and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
19 He will not quarrel or cry aloud,
nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
20 a bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not quench,
until he brings justice to victory;
21     and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”

 

Meditation:

  • As it became increasingly clear that one must choose for or against Jesus, opposition to Him and to His kingdom hardened. Jesus claimed to be Lord of the Sabbath and the Servant predicted by Isaiah. This brought direct conflict with the Pharisees.
  • Jesus didn’t have a smooth ministry.  In fact, he met a lot of opposition.  Jesus responded to the hostility by simply asking those healed not to tell who he was (v16) and leaving the area.  Why?
  • Matthew explained by quoting a passage from one of Isaiah’s “servant songs” (Is 41:1-9).   Messiah “will not quarrel or cry out”.  He will be so gentle that He will not even snap a worthless reed flute, or discard a soot-filled candle wick.
  • Continue concentrate on your Lord Saviour and get to know him deeper by reflecting on the characteristics listed in the passage.  Praise and thank him for his humility and gentleness and also the wonderful work he’s done in your life.

耶穌吩咐完了十二門徒,就離開那裡,在各城裡教導傳道。

約翰在監獄裡聽見基督所作的,就派門徒去問他: “你就是那位要來的,還是我們要等別人呢?” 耶穌回答他們:“你們回去,把聽見和看見的都告訴約翰, 就是瞎的可以看見,瘸的可以走路,患痲風的得到潔淨,聾的可以聽見,死人復活,窮人有福音聽。 那不被我絆倒的,就有福了。”

他們走了之後,耶穌對群眾講起約翰來,說:“你們到曠野去,是要看甚麼?被風吹動的蘆葦嗎? 你們出去到底要看甚麼?身穿華麗衣裳的人嗎?那些穿著華麗衣裳的人,是在王宮裡的。 那麼,你們出去要看甚麼?先知嗎?我告訴你們,是的。他比先知重要得多了。10 經上所記:

‘看哪,我差遣我的使者在你面前,他必在你前頭預備你的道路。’

默想:

  • 耶穌稱讚並鼓勵灰心喪志的施洗約翰,接下來祂責備那些雖然看見神多次的神蹟,仍然不肯悔改的城市;然而針對勞苦者,只要來到神那裡,祂應許賜他們安息。
  • 你有怎樣的“監牢”環境(像施洗約翰一樣)最容易使你對耶穌產生懷疑?在這灰心懷疑的時刻,有什麼最能復甦你的勇氣與信心?耶穌的回答,“把聽見和看見的都告訴約翰”(4節),是否能解決你心中的懷疑?
  • 在你自己身上或是周圍的人生命中,你何時看見過主耶穌的作為?寫下至少三件神的作為,現在就為此感謝神。

Before you begin, take a few moments to find and create for yourself a quiet space. You can turn off your phone and close any chat or other things that might interrupt your time. Give your time and attention wholly to God for the next while.

You might say a prayer, inviting God to speak to you, to reveal Himself to you and to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of who He is and who He calls you to be.

 

1 When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.

Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”

As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is he of whom it is written,

“‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’

11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John, 14 and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,

17 “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

 

Meditation:

  • Jesus encouraged and praised demoralized John. Jesus then damned the cities that refused to repent despite His miracles. Yet the weary who come to Jesus will find rest.
  • What kinds of “prison” tend to bring out doubts for you regarding Jesus? In those period of discouragement and doubt, what most renews your courage and faith? How might Jesus’ reply to John “Go and tell John what you hear and see…” (v4) help to answer your doubts?
  • Where have you seen the work of Jesus in your life and lives of those around you? Write down at least three things.  Then, utter a thanksgiving prayer to God.
  • In what specific way can you be an encourager to someone in church leadership? In your family? Among your friends?

經文:馬太福音6:5-13
6:5你們禱告的時候、不可像那假冒為善的人、愛站在會堂裏、和十字路口上禱告、故意叫人看見。我實在告訴你們、他們已經得了他們的賞賜。 6:6你禱告的時候、要進你的內屋、關上門、禱告你在暗中的父、你父在暗中察看、必然報答你。
6:7你們禱告、不可像外邦人、用許多重復話。他們以為話多了必蒙垂聽。6:8你們不可效法他們。因為你們沒有祈求以先、你們所需用的、你們的父早已知道了。
6:9所以你們禱告、要這樣說。我們在天上的父、願人都尊你的名為聖。6:10願你的國降臨。願你的旨意行在地上、如同行在天上。6:11    我們日用的飲食、今日賜給我們。6:12免我們的債、如同我們免了人的債。6:13    不叫我們遇見試探。救我們脫離兇惡。(或作脫離惡者)因為國度、權柄、榮耀、全是你的直到永遠、阿們。

這段經文是耶穌教導禱告的一段經文,也是我們基督徒耳熟能詳的經文。今天再次讀經的時候,我看到禱告作為最屬靈的事,裏面也是充滿陷阱。
一個陷阱是假冒為善的陷阱:這是我們教會領袖經常會跌到的地方。我們在帶領敬拜禱告的時候,在帶領小組的時候,和在其他公共場合禱告時,我們的心會多多少少要討人的喜悅,甚至會忘記我們禱告的對象是上帝自己。不可否認,公開場合的祈禱有教導和安慰的功用,但這不是重點,重點是我們如何帶領會眾到上帝的面前,大家一起經歷神,一起和上帝有一段美好的團契的時間。當一串串屬靈的話語從我們的口裏湧出來的時候,心裏的沾沾自喜把我們帶進個人驕傲的陷阱裏,求主憐憫我們這些做帶領工作的人,讓我們不求人的稱贊,單單求主的悅納!
我們在禱告方面的另一個陷阱是把禱告變成程式化的咒語。把“奉主耶穌基督的名”當作上帝的簽字,兌現任何我們個人想要的東西。甚至,像一個撒潑打滾、不達目的決不罷休的小孩子,以為只要不斷重復向上帝祈禱,然後,向上帝拿出耶穌的簽名,上帝就可以乖乖地“為我所用”。這種“拜菩薩”的心理在我們基督徒中有很大的市場,特別是華人基督徒更講“實惠”,更容易掉進這陷阱裏。求主憐憫!
求主幫助我們熟讀聖經,靠著聖靈的啟示,多多明白上帝的心意,按著上帝的心意來生活、來祈禱,我們一定會多多經歷上帝的恩典。求主打開我們眼睛,看到上帝的計劃和引領。讓我們先求神的國和神的義(太6:9-10)。不再定睛在吃喝玩樂的事情上,信靠上帝的供應,學習做一個“斷奶的孩子”在主的懷抱裏充滿喜樂和滿足。當然,我們也當顧及身心靈的需要(太6:11-13)。也求主特別憐憫做領袖的和弟兄姊妹們,時刻小心那惡者的陷阱,做上帝忠心又良善的仆人。
永生的門是一個窄門,基督徒的道路是一條山脊上的窄路,兩旁都是萬劫不復的懸崖。願主保守我們教會的眾弟兄姊妹時時警醒,堅定地走在十字架的天路上。阿門!

These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay. Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, 10 no bag for your journey, or two tunics or sandals or a staff, for the laborer deserves his food. 11 And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. ……

16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. ……

26 “So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

 

Meditation

  • There is no greater challenge than to live our lives as disciples of Jesus, the Servant-King. The marks of Jesus’ disciples according to this passage include: acknowledging Jesus before men (v32), placing loyalty to Christ above even the bonds of family (vv34-35), taking up his cross and following Jesus by subjecting one’s will to God even as Jesus chose to subject Himself to the cross (v38), surrendering all for the sake of his Lord (v37).
  • In a culture that values family highly, is it possible that you can be blinded by familial loyalty to the truth of the Gospel?
  • What does “take his cross and follow Jesus” mean to you?  How are you sharing Christ’ suffering in discipleship?
  • What does the paradox “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it” (v39) mean to you? How can you lose yourself for Christ this week?

默想:

  • 信徒作為神國的子民最大的挑戰,就是過一個神僕君王耶穌之門徒的實際生活。這段經文中指出,作主門徒的記號包括:在人前認主(32節),對主的忠心勝過與家人的關係(34-35節),背起十字架跟從主,學效耶穌順服神以致於死在十架上(38節),為主捨棄一切(37節)。
  • 現今的時代,我們極為重視家庭。在這樣的文化中,你是否會因為忠於家庭,而漠視神的真理?
  • 「背起十字架跟從主」對你來說有什麼意義?你如何因成為基督的門徒而在祂的受苦上有分?
  • “顧惜自己生命的,必要喪掉生命;但為我犧牲生命的,必要得著生命”(39節),這句話對你有何意義?在本週內,你如何可以為基督“喪掉”自己?

And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.

10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

 

Meditation

  • Jesus’ kingly authority can overcome not only nature and demons (Ch 8), but even human sin. This shows that God was doing a brand new work among men. Jesus raised a dead girl and continued to heal and cast out demons, providing a ministry model for workers in His kingdom.
  • The calling of Matthew exhibited Jesus’ calling of outcasts and despised sinners.  The Pharisees, with their strict following of both ritual and moral purity, could not understand why Jesus would have meals with these unworthy people.  Whom can you identify more easily, Matthew or the Pharisees?  Why?
  • Do you see Jesus’ calling of you, inviting you to follow Him?  What’s your response?  Do you enjoy eating, drinking, celebrating, resting, having fun with Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus quote “I desire mercy, not sacrifice”(v 13)?  Could it be because love and mercy reveal that we have a transformed heart, while sacrifice is an outward act that can be done regardless of the condition of our heart?

默想: 

  • 耶穌的君王權柄不但可以勝過自然與魔鬼(8章),也可以戰勝人的罪惡。這告訴我們,神在人的生命中進行更新的工作。
  • 耶穌呼召馬太,表明祂樂意親近社會的邊緣人物——受人歧視、排擠、壓迫的群體。法利賽人對宗教禮儀與道德的拘泥謹守,使他們無法了解何以耶穌會和這樣卑賤的人一同飲宴。你比較能認同馬太或是法利賽人?為什麼?
  • 今天你有否看見主耶穌向你招手,邀請你跟從祂?你的回應是什麼呢? 你是否歡喜與主一同吃喝,歡樂,慶祝,休息……?
  • 耶穌引用《何6:6》「我喜愛憐恤、不喜愛祭祀。」(13節),是否因憐恤和愛是我們無人看見的內在實際改變,而祭祀卻是不論內心的實況如何,都可以做到的外在表現?

When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”

When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. Meditation

  • Jesus displays a royal power over all forces in natural and supernatural worlds. King Jesus is willing and able to heal all kinds of illness and suffering.
  • The Leper realizes that Jesus has the power as God to heal sicknesses and to correct evils that torment mankind.  But the leper also realizes that Jesus has a choice about whether to heal or not.  Again and again Jesus exercised His power as God, and each time it was to help or heal a human being in need.  Christ is willing.  And He is able too.
  • Recall a time when you were touched by the loving hand of God.  What was it?  How did you feel?
  • What did your past experience of God’s touch and healing teach you about God’s power and His love?  Spend a few moments conversing with God and listening to what God is trying to tell you.

耶穌到了迦百農,有一個百夫長前來懇求他, 說:“主啊!我的僕人癱瘓了,躺在家裡非常痛苦。” 耶穌對他說:“我去醫治他。”百夫長回答:“主啊,要你到舍下來,實在不敢當。只要你說一句話,我的僕人就必好了。 我自己是在別人的權下,也有兵在我以下;我對這個說‘去!’他就去,對另一個說‘來!’他就來;對僕人說‘作這個!’他就作。” 10 耶穌聽了,就很驚奇,對跟隨的人說:“我實在告訴你們,這樣的信心,我在以色列中從來沒有見過。 11 我告訴你們,必有許多人從東從西來到,和亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各在天國裡一起吃飯。 12 但本來要承受天國的人,反被丟在外面黑暗裡,在那裡必要哀哭切齒。” 13 於是耶穌對百夫長說:“回去吧!事情必照你所信的給你成就。”他的僕人就在那時痊愈了。

14 耶穌來到彼得家裡,看見他的岳母發燒,病在床上。 15 耶穌一摸她的手,熱就退了;她就起來服事耶穌。 16 到了黃昏,有些人帶了許多被鬼附的人來見耶穌,他只用一句話就把污靈趕出去,並且醫好了所有患病的人。 17 這樣正應驗了以賽亞先知所說的:

“他親自除去我們的軟弱,擔當我們的疾病。”

 

默想:

  • 耶穌的權柄超越一切包括自然界以及超自然界,祂願意也能夠醫治人們的各樣疾病痛苦。
  • 長大痲瘋的人認識耶穌有神的能力醫治疾病,驅除攪擾人的邪惡勢力。他並且認識到,耶穌可以選擇醫治或不醫治。事實上,耶穌一再地施展祂的大能,為要拯救或醫治有需要的人。基督「能夠」,而且祂也「願意」。
  • 回想你曾經歷過主愛手的撫摸的時刻,是什麼事?你當時有何感受?
  • 你在過去得到神的撫摸與醫治的經歷,令你對神的能力與神的愛有何認識?用幾分鐘的時間,與神對話,也聆聽神要對你說的話。

Before you begin, take a few moments to find and create for yourself a quiet space. You can turn off your phone and close any chat or other things that might interrupt your time. Give your time and attention wholly to God for the next while.

You might say a prayer, inviting God to speak to you, to reveal Himself to you and to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of who He is and who He calls you to be.

 

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

 

Meditation

  • Kingdom citizens have an “in-secret” relationship with God (6:1-4). Therefore, we do not judge others, and we consciously depend on our Father, and choose His “narrow gate”. As we do, God’s power is exhibited in our good lives and in our obedience.
  • Each of the images of prayer – ask, seek, knock- suggests persistence.  Each also conveys a promise.  Ask, it will be given; seek, you will find; knock, the door will be opened.  What encourages us to be actively involved in prayer, and to claim these promises, is the certainty that God is our Father.  Our Father loves us.  He provides what we need, not because we bother Him, but because He cares.  And He is eager to give us good gifts.
  • When you pray to make a request to God, do you rely on your persistence to “persuade” God?  Or do you rely on God’s pervasive love and rest assured of the good gifts He’s going to give you?

 

Prayer & Journaling:

On your prayer journal, as you listen to God, write down a few thoughts, questions, words, names, drawings, or anything that has come to your mind during this time.


260靈修 2月4日:馬太福音第7章

在開始今天的讀經與默想之前,先用幾分鐘整理出一個“神聖空間”。將任何書籍、雜誌等拿開,關掉電腦,音樂等等;全神貫注地與神相約。

可以先作個禱告,請求神對你說話,向你顯現,並幫助你更多認識神,且明白神對你的旨意。

最好能將全章略讀一遍,再專注於以下經文段落:

 

“不可判斷人,免得你們被判斷。 你們怎樣判斷人,也必怎樣被判斷;你們用甚麼標準衡量人,也必照樣被衡量。 為甚麼看見你弟兄眼中的木屑,卻不理會自己眼中的梁木呢? 你自己眼中有梁木,怎能對弟兄說:‘讓我除掉你眼中的木屑’呢? 偽君子啊!先除掉你眼中的梁木,才可以看得清楚,去除掉弟兄眼中的木屑。 不要把聖物給狗,也不要把你們的珍珠丟在豬前,免得牠們用腳把珍珠踐踏,又轉過來猛噬你們。

默想:

  • 神國子民與神有“密室”的關係(6:1-4),因此,我們不論斷別人,只單單依靠我們的天父,並願意選擇進入神的“窄門”。如此,神的能力就會在我們的好行為、並我們順從神的道上,得以彰顯出來。
  • 這三個禱告的用詞:祈求尋求叩門,表明堅持的意願;同時也傳達了一個應許——祈求,就得著;尋找,就尋見;叩門,就開門。使得我們積極參與禱告、並宣告神的應許的主要動力,在於我們確信神是我們的父。我們的父愛我們,供應我們所需,不是因我們不斷地打擾祂,而是因祂的關愛,並且祂渴望賜好禮物給我們。
  • 當你向神祈求時,你是依賴自己的堅持來「說服」神?或是依賴神無微不至的大愛,並安心地知道,神會賜好禮物給你?

For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases asthe Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

 

Meditation  

  • Prayer is an expression of intimate relationship with God. Here Jesus invites us to explore what prayer is, and what it can mean to us.

 

Lord, I cannot say “Our”…

if my faith has no room for other people and their needs.

Lord, I cannot say “Father”…

if I fail to resemble You in the way I live my daily life.

Lord, I cannot say “Who are in Heaven”…

if my attention is focused only on earthly things.

Lord, I cannot say “Hallowed be Thy name”…

if I, who am called by your name, am not holy.

Lord, I cannot say “Thy Kingdom come”…

if I fail to acknowledge your sovereignty in my life.

Lord, I cannot say “On earth as it is in Heaven”…

unless I am truly ready to serve You here and now.

Lord, I cannot say “Give us this day our daily bread”…

without doing an honest day’s work, and

without considering the needs of those less fortunate.

Lord, I cannot say “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors”…

if I harbor a grudge against my brother or sister.

Lord, I cannot say “Lead us not into temptation”…

if I deliberately choose to remain in a situation

where I am likely to be tempted.

Lord, I cannot say “Deliver us from evil”…

if I am not prepared to take a stand against injustice in my society.

Lord, I cannot say “Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory”…

if I do not submit to Christ as King,

if I fail to trust You to act in my life,

or if in pride I seek my own glory.

Lord, I cannot say “Amen”…

unless I can honestly say, “Come what may, this is my prayer.”
